Methodology & Mathematical Calculation

The Arithmetic Target Formula

To determine additional marks needed, calculate total target marks across the combined maximum marks and subtract your accumulated score:

Required Marks = [(Target % ÷ 100) × Total Max Marks] − Obtained Marks

If Required Marks ≤ 0, your target is already secured. If Required Marks > Remaining Max Marks, the target cannot be reached under the entered assumptions.

Realistic Worked Example (Target: 85%)

Suppose a student is appearing for 5 subjects (Total Max = 500). Target 85% requires (85 / 100) × 500 = 425 marks.

Frequently Asked Questions

If the additional marks required exceed the total maximum marks available across all your remaining assessments, even scoring 100% on every remaining paper will not bridge the gap. The calculator displays the highest achievable percentage based on your current completed scores.
